 Turkey calls on Myanmar to act against violence on Muslims

Myanmar government to take action to protect the country's Muslim citizens against escalating violence.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry urged Myanmar government to take action to protect the country's Muslim citizens against escalating violence in central parts.    
"Turkey calls on the government for the immediate containment of the violence in Meiktila, apprehension of the perpetrators and prevention of incidents from spreading," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.    
Muslims living in villages outside Meiktila were attacked on Friday by Buddhist groups who have ransacked and burned Muslim neighborhoods since Wednesday.    
The incident left at least 20 dead.
